Orthez

Aquitaine

Orthez is a municipality and the main town of a canton in south-western France, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques département in the region of Aquitaine, 40 km NW of Pau on the southern railway to Bayonne. The town also encompasses the small village of Sainte-Suzanne, thus residents of the town are either called Orthéziens or Sainte-Suzannais. According to the population figures from 1999, there are 10,121 people residing in the community, and 16,168 in the canton. In 1906, the town had a population of 4,159 and the municipality had a population of 6,254.
