Fagersta

Fagersta is located in the middle of Sweden, on the 60th latitude. There are about 13,000 inhabitants, and 90% live in the centre of the community. It takes two hours by car or train to get here from Stockholm.

Ängelsbergs bruk
There are many small businesses, four major export-oriented companies, world leaders in fields of tungsten carbide, rock drills, and stainless steel. There are recreation opportunities like fishing, 500 km of walking paths, many sport activities such as football, ice hockey, bandy, golf, bowling, volleyball, pistol and rifle shooting, swimming, horseback riding, water skiing, downhill and cross country skiing, and many more. UNESCO´s world heritage Ängelsbergs bruk made Sweden into one of the biggest iron producers. Engineer Johan August Brinell gave his name to our school. He invented a method to measure the hardness of steel and was important for the development of a method to improve the production of steel products and metallurgy research. It is also the home town of the world famous rock group the Hives.

Norberg

Norberg
There are about 6,000 inhabitants. There are many small businesses, and many people commute to their work between Norberg and other cities. It Was a focal point of our district and a market town in the Middle Ages. The Polhelm Wheel, the only remaining water wheel in the area, supplied power to the mines. The Klackberg mining district reached its peak at the end of the 19th century. Today you can walk around and look at the old mines Nya Lapphyttan, a reconstruction of the oldest-known blast furnace. There have been three attempts to make iron in the Medieval way. Elsa Andersson´s pastry shop, famous in Sweden, was built in the 18th century, Själaglas, a small glassworks, manufactures everything by hand.

Skinnskatteberg

There are about 4,800 inhabitants. The community consists to a large part of forest land. Situated between two lakes, there are about 250 big ones and small ones in the community. There are also eight nature reserves with fishing, walking paths, and woods, where you can pick mushrooms and different types of berries. The biggest employers are wood-, saw industries and fan production. There is a college for forest engineers, practical forest management, and wood trade. Every year there is a popular choir festival. There is an exotic elk safari. It has the highest-situated road in the region of Västmanland plus the longest community name.
