Philippe Morisse Company
The Philippe Morisse company is a manufacturer of a concentrated paint for the chalking
of fields. This paint is called Supermatic and the company is the inventor of Plifix.
History
P. Morisse was born in Le Havre on May 13, 1958. He was the youngest of 7 children. He dropped out of school at the age of 15 and is a self-made man. His life and inventions are linked to team sports, especially those played on grass fields.
In 1986 he founded the P. Morisse company and started making and selling his own products for line-marking on sports fields. In 1990, a marketing sector was added to the company. Today, there are 9 employees in this company. The P. Morrise company is dynamic, and consequently receives prestigious prizes, e.g. Victory of Self-made Men (Wadter House Coppers Prize 1998), World Book of Inventions (1999), Trophy of the Grand Prize at the Concours Lépine and the Gold Medal (May 2004).
The products
3 products are on the market:
- White for chalking (a registered trademark)
- Machines for chalking
- Plifix: an implant of synthetic grass for signalling (registered patent and trademark)
White for chalking (Blanc à tracer)
This product has specific criteria: it is extremely white with very good covering properties, has optimum dilution, is fast drying, and rainproof.
Moreover, the company has its own requirements. It selects the components, and respects the environment.
The characteristics of the product are tithium oxyde for whiteness, a neutral pH, and a high concentration (the highest on the market).
It remains white even when diluted. As it is more liquid than other products, it does not clog pipes.
The product meets the AFNOR French norm NF, and has obtained the approval of the football and rugby French federations.
Machine for chalking
The principle is: « The simpler it is, the less breakdown there will be! ».
That is why Supermatic is simple. It is not a thermic or electric engine. The user pushes the machine, and it marks the fields. The machine is always ready for use. There is a regulator
spray with a pump that functions even when the machine is standing. Moreover, Supermatic is self-cleaning.
Plifix
Plifix is a new system of signalling in the shape of a grass tuft. Implanted in a grass field or a clay court, Plifix implants are the most convenient solution to locate buried objects which define the lines. With Plifix it is not necessary to measure out the fields again.
In 1998 Plifix was used on the fields for the Football World Cup in France. In 2000 Plifix added several colours (white, red, blue, and yellow) in order to increase its application on e.g. golf courses, campgrounds, and car parks.
Using Plifix:
- 1 – Choose the place, then handplant the Plifix screw.
- 2 – Put the driving device at the top of the screw.
- 3 – After a few hits, Plifix is in position.
- 4 – Pour sand into the fibres between the top of the screw and the level
of the ground, to reinforce Plifix and give the fibres a natural effect.
