What does the company produce?
Durst AG produces systems to print out digital photos in a large format. It produces printers using laser, inkjet, or needle printing technologies. The machines must be able to produce the photos quickly, reliably, and they must be of high quality.
How does the product affect the environment?
In general, the products are environmentally friendly and the waste products from the production are harmless. When working with ink, however, there is an acidic odor, which is not environmentally friendly. It is solely the customers’ responsibilty to dispose of the waste properly in order not to harm the environment.
What machines do they use to produce the products?
Durst AG produces photos, advertising posters, and flags, and prints on ceramic tiles as well as on products made of wood.
The printers, scanners, and developing machines are produced by the company itself. Various kinds of printers are roll, ceramic, flatbed, and packaging printers.
The individual parts are also produced and assembled by hand by the company.
In the past, the firm also varnished objects, however, this is no longer necessary due to the high performance printers.
Photos are developed in the dark room, but there are also special machines for this nowadays.
As the quality of inkjet printers was not satisfactory, laser technology was preferred. The disadvantage of the latter is its limited performance; only light-sensitive materials can be printed.
Today, however, the use of the inkjet technique is standard procedure. The big advantage is that a large number of materials can be printed.
