The Northern Västmanland Region

The northern Västmanland region consists of the three municipalities Fagersta, Norberg, and Skinnskatteberg. The region has a total of about 23,000 inhabitants and is located in the middle of Sweden, about a two-hour drive from Stockholm.

The industry has developed from the traditional iron and forestry industry to modern high tech companies, some of them world leading in the production of hard metal tools, rock drilling tools, and stainless steel products.

Climate

The climate in the region is humid and the average yearly temperature is 4° to 6ºC. In January the average temperature is -6° to -4ºC and in June 14° to 16ºC.

Housing

A rather large percentage, about 60% of the homes is in blocks of flats, the rest is detached houses.
